Description

Barcode Medication Administration (BCMA) allows users to scan both patient and medication barcodes to ensure the right medication is given to the right patient at the right time.

Bar code scanning helps to ensure patient and medication administration safety.
Real-time patient verification helps to prevent patient administration errors, and accurate medication verification at the point of administration ensures accountability.

The EV bar code scanning system includes many technology-based alerts. These enforce (but not replace) the five rights:

Right patient, right drug, right dose, right route, right time.
